The Mac

The building is modern and the architecture is striking. The temporary exhibitions rather loose. The best, the cafeteria, the coffee was good and the cakes and sweets very rich. The staff are friendly and the prices normal for Belfast. Good place to have a drink in peace.

The Finals of the British One-act Festival of plays held this weekend. Always proud to show off this wonderful theatre and its great stage to visitors from the other three countries! And the staff, as usual, were welcoming, attentive and professional! Along with a Belfast welcome and lots too, it was a thoroughly enjoyable weekend! Thank you to ‘the Mac’!

Thought provoking, colourful and . That’s how I’d describe the MAC. It’s free entry with a suggested donation of £5. AStaff we’re lovely and very chatty, it helps that they’ve got ‘Talk to me’ written on their backs ????Exhibitions were huge, the top floor especially. I didn’t go to the cafe but I did I’ve the seating area to get some work done on my laptop.Only downside is the exhibitions are on separate discontinuous floors 1, 2 and 4, with the cafe in the middle so made it a bit clunky trying to see everything.

Went to see a show here tonight and just think it needs noted that the MAC has got far and away the friendliest and most helpful staff that I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with.As a venue, is great. Was a small show in an intimate theatre space. Sound was excellent and chairs comfy enough to sit in for 2 hours!

We went to see Les Misérables School Edition and it was fabulous I think the youngest was about 8 years old but don’t let that put you off as it was so very professional done, honestly it was great I’d go back and watch it again, the boys and girls have great voices. The theatre staff were very helpful at pointing things outs out to us, the show was 3 hrs long and if you have problems sitting for that length of time there’s a place at the back we’re you can stand to stretch or just move your legs, which I found very helpful. Definitely on my list now for what’s on in Belfast if I’m looking somewhere to go.

The MAC is a great place to take a break when you're in the city centre. It has a cafe which serves brunch/lunch or snacks. It is also a good option for a day trip when the art galleries are open or for a theatre performance. The building is large and airy, and you can choose to sit in booths, or more open cafe tables dotted around the first two floors. The cafe has a kids menu and an adult menu, and they offer a selection of traybakes and snack at the counter. You queue up to order at the counter, and then the staff bring your order to your table. The toilets are clean and pleasant, and the building has lift access and is accessible for wheelchairs.

The MAC is an excellent venue with lots of interesting lectures and shows on. It is in the heart of the Cathedral Quarter surrounded by brilliant restaurants and lots to do. The staff are so lovely and helpful. I have watched a psychology lecture there, my friends film "The Magic Is Within You," and other fantastic shows. It is definitely worth a visit.
