Leeds Art Gallery

The strength of this museum is in its modern art collection, which features many works by very talented if little-known 20th-century British painters and sculptors. The collection rivals the art galleries of Bristol or Glasgow, for example. A rotating gallery by local contemporary artists is always featured, which is an additional strength. It's not exactly one of the great fine art museums of Europe, and I would not be on the top of my list for places to visit if one were spending a couple of days in Leeds. But, for the regular visitor to Leeds, it's a must-see. And it's great for locals. Totally free admission!

The two buildings are like a gallery, shared with the library, the building is very old and a bit neglected, but it can be seen if you come to the city.

Precious Gallery in Leeds!!!… it has various collections of painting and sculpture. Its interior is pleasant, peaceful, where you can walk and spend at least an hour. It has a fairly large free reference library. There is a cafeteria and restrooms available. Admission is free. It also has a souvenir shop.

Interactive and interesting day out. Admittedly, I can find some art galleries a bit dry... But the Leeds gallery is always a pleasure to wander around.Always a mix of modern and traditional artwork. In the basement, there is often an interactive hands on craft activity for children and adults alike to get involved with (I think it was magazine and news paper collage when I visited).Staff are very friendly and the cafe and shop are really good to go to as well.Excellent location on the headrow. Easily accessible by bus and a short 10-15 minute walk from the train station.

Not my first time in leeds but the first time in this art gallery. The staff are all very friendly. Very helpful and cheerful. There was a lot of breathtaking art to see. One large room was empty at the time of my visit. Leeds library is connected and I recommend popping in to see the architecture. And yes it was free as I wasn't sure myself beforehand.

Not really a massive museum guy, but the art in here as half decent, better than anything I'd come up with.Good little walk around, with a nice cafe attached for when you've finished. Easy to find location too.It's worth a trip to see some good art.
